After his recent project at West Street Cemetery, the talented chainsaw wood sculptor Michael Jones is back creating a piece for Gostrey Meadow.

The wood sculpture at Gostrey Meadow features a heron but a few more additions will be added later on this week.

The project is transforming a tree trunk alongside the River Wey, funded by Farnham Town Council as part of Farnham in Bloom.

Jones believes if the weather holds up the project will be completed later this week.

The West Street Cemetery statue was finished last week and features animals such as a fox, two owls, a squirrel, a deer and a hawk.

Michael Jones started off as a tree surgeon when he was 18 and five years later started taking up chainsaw wood carving.

He is self-taught, and now works for councils, businesses and private clients creating wood-carved figures such as animals, mythical creatures and people.
