A FROXFIELD lane is so badly maintained that villagers fear it is only a matter of time until there is a major accident. One villager has been voicing his concerns to the Highways Agency since March, but still nothing had been done to improve the surface of Blackmore Lane, he said. The Highways Agency has simply written to him saying: "We intend to resurface Blackmore Lane this year." The villager, who did not wish to named, said the road's double white lines had eroded completely at junctions and the bottoms of a cars were likely to collide with the road as its surface had been badly eroded at the edges. He said: "The road is not usable by a car. I have lived in the area for about nine years and not once has anything been done. It could cause serious damage." Residents have written to Michael Mates MP and have brought the issue to Froxfield Parish Council. "We want proof that work will get done," said the villager. "At present the Tarmac has not been filled in the holes. It's an accident waiting to happen." The villager himself has had to order two alloy wheels for his Land Rover and had witnessed other cars damaging their mud guards. He said others driving smaller cars preferred to go the long way round rather than damage their vehicles. He added: "Car and vehicle damage is already happening. What's the point of paying road tax if we can't use the roads?"
