HEADLEY residents are warming up for the village fun run on Monday, May 5. The five-mile run, which is now in its 22nd year, will begin at 10am from the Headley Sports Pavilion. Organiser Lizzie Miller said: "It is a truly village family event and all the helpers are volunteers so it creates a great community spirit. "The event has been running since 1986, so it is well established. The number of runners is increasing each year – 2006 was 150, 2007 was 170 and we are hoping for 200 this year! "We have some very good club runners which gives it a competitive edge right down to parents running with their children. "It is not run for a profit but if the fun run does generate surplus funds, we then make donations to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and the Naomi House Children's Hospice." Unfortunately, a large 15-foot banner advertising the event has been removed. It was put up on Thursday, April 3, at the junction of Pond Road and Beech Hill in Headley and was no longer there on Sunday, April 5. If anyone has any information about the missing banner, contact PCSO Jim Leggatt on 0845 045 4545.
