ALDERSHOT dug deep to earn a historic sixth successive home win on Tuesday, putting visitors Bristol Rovers to the sword on the 20th anniversary of the new club's founding.

To say this wasn't a classic would be a gross understatement, but the performance barely mattered on a joyous night for Aldershot Town and the club's loyal fans.

In the end, a first-half Peter Vincenti strike was just about enough to earn the hosts three points, thanks largely to a miraculous goal-line clearance by Darren Jones deep into second-half stoppage time.
