FARNHAM Maltings has a couple of vacancies on its voluntary council of management and is particularly keen to hear from people with a background in arts strategy, theatre, young people’s work or craft.

In 1970 Farnham Maltings was established as a membership organisation and charity to provide arts and community facilities for the town.

From this membership a council of management is elected to agree strategy, support the staff team and act as custodians of the Maltings and more recently the Museum of Farnham.

The council of management is chosen by a sub-group of the members of Farnham Maltings and representatives of its funding bodies, and meets five times a year.

Jon Mileman, spokesman for the Maltings, said: “This is an interesting time to be considering joining an arts board as we face a host of changes and challenges as a voluntary organisation.

“That said we have strong evolving relationships with all of our funders with both Arts Council England and Waverley Borough Council.

“Over the past 13 years we have set about realising an ambition for the Maltings to become a centre of creativity that meets the needs of the town and has regional, national and increasingly international significance.”

Anyone interested in an informal conversation to find out more can call Gavin Stride, Maltings director, on 01252 745400.

To apply, submit a short letter detailing your interest and bringing our attention to any particular experience you bring plus a CV or background on your career by August 24. Interviews will be held in September.
