FARNHAM firefighters have urged people to be extra vigilant when out picnicking in the current dry weather, following a major fire on Hankley Common on Thursday last week.

Fire crews from Farnham, Haslemere, Camberley, Cranleigh and Woking battled to contain the blaze that destroyed an area extending to two hectares 500 metres west of Kettlebury Farm.The alarm was raised at 4.50pm and the last firefighters left the scene at 10.30pm.
