WAVERLEY Borough Council’s interim managing director Tom Horwood was appointed permanent chief executive at last week’s special full council meeting.

Waverleys executive committee approved a salary of £124,000 for the post in November, and a title change from executive director to chief executive.

Mr Horwood has been working part-time for Waverley since August, under an arrangement with East Hampshire District Council and Havant Borough Council where he held the position of executive director.

He will step down from his Havant and EHDC roles.

Mr Horwood will also take on the council’s statutory roles of electoral registration and returning officer and head of paid service.

He said: “I am honoured to be invited to take up the role. I look forward to working with local communities, councillors, partners and colleagues to provide sustainable services and to support residents and Waverley businesses.”
