WAVERLEY Borough Council leader Robert Knowles has expressed his sadness at the passing of former Farnham councillor Dr Genny Lane.
As reported in last week’s Herald, Dr Lane, who fled the Nazis in occupied Belgium and went on to serve as a doctor, Justice of the Peace, councillor and advocate of many causes in Farnham, died aged 85 in August.
During her eight years as a borough councillor for Farnham, Wrecclesham and Rowledge from 1999 to 2007, she also served on Waverley’s Executive as portfolio holder for housing and community welfare.
Following her death, Mr Knowles said: “We are saddened to hear about the passing of Dr Genny Lane. Our sincere condolences go out to her family at this time.”
A small family funeral was held on Thursday and donations to Transform Housing Association or Victim Support, a charity close to her heart, are welcomed.
