THE Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Wisley is teaming up with the Surrey Sculpture Society (SSS) to host one of the largest sculpture trails in the country from August 19 to September 24.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Surrey Sculpture Society Trail at RHS Garden Wisley and will see over 80 inspirational sculptures featured within the tranquil surroundings of the world-class garden.
The mix of contemporary and traditional sculptures have been skilfully crafted by gifted professional and emerging artists, using a broad range of materials, including: stone, metal, glass, resin, ceramic, and wood.
Matthew Pottage, curator at RHS Garden Wisley, said: “We are thrilled to host the 20th Surrey Sculpture Trail here at RHS Garden Wisley. The artistic exhibit provides our visitors with the opportunity to view inspirational sculptures combined with horticultural delights, as the summer season comes to an end and autumn begins.”
Henriette Van der Does, chair of the SSS, said: “2017 is a very special occasion for the Surrey Sculpture Society at RHS Wisley, since we organised our first ever show in 1997, now 20 years ago. This year, we will be showing over 80 pieces by as many as 68 different sculptors, with a great variety in subject matter and size.”
Sculptures on display include Don Foxley’s ‘Enlightenment’ - the sister piece to one exhibited 20 years ago, Denise Jaques’ ‘Shards’ sparkle piece, and Adam Warwick-Hall’s striking mechanical animal combinations. All sculptures will be available to purchase.
