Wrecclesham ended the year on the sort of note they have been searching for over the last few weeks, producing some exciting, flowing football for the local crowd to enjoy.

From the start, adventurous play was the order of the day and Russell Smith went close on two occasions.

But it was young Griffiths who opened the scoring with a fine run and bullet shot to the goalkeeper's left to give Wrecclesham the lead.

Next came a superb run and dribble from the lively Smith who gave the 'keeper no chance with a pin-point finish.

Wrecclesham were now rampant and attack after attack resulted in the third goal. A wonderful cross from Griffiths found young Fanner ready to tap in at the far post and score his first goal for the club .

In the second half, Wrecclesham took their foot off the peddle for 15 minutes and Lightwater got back into the game with two goals.

But this was a wake-up call for the home team and Taylor started a three-man passing movement that was finished by Fanner, the young winger making no mistake for his second and Wrecclesham's fourth.

Smith had a wonderful chance to make it five, but shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Then, with seven minutes to go, Matt Schultz dispatched a direct free-kick into the top corner from 25 yards to put the seal on an entertaining performance and keep Wrecclesham second in the league going into the new year.
