DOGMERSFIELD-based Ashley Harrison came a superb fourth at the Corinthian Cup Novice Restricted Championship at the Festival of British Eventing, held at Gatcombe Park.

The 23-year-old event rider, who has only been competing at Novice level for two seasons, has come into her own this year when competing against the country’s best riders.

Riding Zebedee IX, she finished the dressage phase at a sun-bathed Gatcombe Park in a lowly 34th position out of 53 competitors, but her excellent showjumping clear (one of only 15) moved her into the top ten.

The pressure was on for the final phase, the cross country, where time was tight and a technical course meant focus was imperative.

However, Ashley finished the course just two seconds inside the time, leaving her on a final score of 35.1.

Ashley Harrison is determined to make event riding a career. This result underlines her potential.
