Badshot Lea Tennis Club held Sunday open afternoons as part of the nationwide LTA Big Tennis Weekends initiative for people to give tennis a go.

With blue summery skies, many visitors went along to enjoy an excellent afternoon of free tennis and coaching.

Those not on court enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, meeting new people and catching up with old acquaintances, and all enjoyed the refreshments on offer.

A big welcome was given to all the new members, and a huge thank you given to all the club members and the LTA tennis coach for their help in making these events successful.

Gillian Hyman, the chairman of Badshot Lea Tennis Club, said: “The afternoons gave the club a chance to once again make the local community aware of the excellent tennis facilities on their doorstep.

“If anyone could not make it on the open afternoons, the club welcome newcomers to their club sessions on Thursdays at 6pm or on Saturdays at 10.30am.

“The courts are on the recreation ground behind the village green in Badshot Lea, and they are also available for public hire.

“Further open afternoons are planned for the autumn and we ask anyone interested to check the club’s website and Facebook page for updates.”
