SEALE & Sands and the trophy holders, Old Dean from Camberley, met in the Hunter Cup final at Frensham.
The cup was presented to Frensham RBL BC in 1939 by the club president, Mr E Hunter, and has been played for continuously ever since.
Old Dean were playing their third consecutive final. Seale have won the trophy 11 times and been finalists on many other occasions.
In fine weather and excellent conditions, an interesting match was played out, with Old Dean extending a lead on one rink, as did Seale & Sands on the other.
Going past the halfway stage, Old Dean were always leading one game, while their team-mates nibbled away at the early advantage Seale had taken in the other.
Eventually, Old Dean proved unbeatable overall and their opponents conceded with an end unplayed.
The cup and medals were presented by Frensham’s current president, Sheila Haytree. A splendid tea was provided by Hazel Ling, Sheila Haytree and Marge Sparkes, with Heather Warner running the raffle.
