BADSHOT LEA 3, FOLKESTONE I 2

BRAD Smith scored an injury-time winner on Saturday that sent Badshot Lea through to a lucrative second qualifying round tie in the FA Cup.

Just four days earlier, the Lea striker had attended the funeral of his brother, Lance Corporal Matt Smith, who was killed last month while serving in Afghanistan.

After a harrowing week for his family, Smith rejoined the Lea squad for this important FA Cup tie, and there was no more fitting player to score the dramatic late decider.

Lea are rewarded with a home tie against Ryman League Premier side Leiston FC on September 22. The Suffolk club currently prop up the table, but thrashed Southend Manor 5-1 in their first qualifying round match.
