DENNIS Taylor was in his usual ebullient form at the Farnham Billiards & Snooker League’s presentations night at Lindford Club.
Over nearly four hours, the BBC commentator and former World Snooker Champion played exhibition frames against the league’s top break-makers, presented the trophies and also demonstrated his renowned repertoire of trick shots.
The Irishman, now 66, defeated all the local champions bar one. Dominic Holmes of Sovereign A, the highest break-maker in Division One with an 83, pulled off a memorable win in an excellent frame of snooker.
Taylor’s famed off-the-cuff repartee delighted the near-capacity crowd.
The trick shots, some familiar, some new, were executed with uncanny precision – all except the last one which, despite two attempts, failed to come off.
At which point, Dennis Taylor packed away his over-sized spectacles and left for home.
