YATELEY?V 1, HASLEMERE?V 5 (Hampshire 10)

THE?experience, skill and unselfishness of Haslemere’s quartet of seniors – skipper Tony Richards, David Mayson, Ben Rodber and John Vallis – again assisted the youngsters in Haslemere’s side to improve their confidence and their game.

The result was a splendid display of fast-passing hockey against a gallant Yateley outfit who never gave up the fight.

To goals by Ben Rodber (2) and a sinuous Dominic Knight, Yateley responded with a goal of their own, despite the efforts of Ultan Wood, who made an excellent goalkeeping debut for the New Developers.

However, Alex Knight emulated his elder brother for Haslemere’s fourth goal and, for the fifth, Zac Rodber completed a family hat-trick with a ferocious reverse strike.

The secret of this Haslemere league double against Yateley lay again in the swift and accurate passing of all the players, including Ben Hope, Joshua Loft, Cameron Moore, Harry Stokes, Charles Tuffin and Alfy Richards.

Haslemere, the runaway league leaders, were again indebted to the astute management of Olly Green and the fine umpiring of Colin Evans.
