EIGHT months after securing their Conference status with a 2-1 win at Kingfield, Aldershot repeated the scoreline in a victory which was almost as important to manager Andy Scott.

Five successive defeats had dampened the seasonal spirit of many a Shots fan, but their team thoroughly deserved the three points from Sunday's festive local derby in which peace and goodwill were conspicuous only by their absence.

Five of the six yellow cards handed out by referee David Rock went to Aldershot players.

"There was a real determination to get the three points today," said Scott.
