Aldershot Town manager Scott Davies was disappointed with his side's performance after they lost 3-1 at home to Carlisle United in the National League.

Dominic Odusanya was on target for the Shots, but goals from David Ajiboye (2) and Micah Obiero gave the visitors all three points in front of a crowd of 2,935 at the EBB Stadium.

“I think we made Carlisle look strong, to be honest,” said Davies.

“Some of the decision making, execution, passes, sloppiness and mistakes – when you do that against a good side they're going to punish you.

“We've been good at defending one-against-ones and defending our box this season, but for all three goals we were beaten on a one-against-one and didn't defend our box.

“When you do that, you haven't got a chance of winning a football game.

“We changed shape three times, because none of it seemed to be working.

“When we had a lot of the ball in the second half, we were playing into midfield where we had an underload of bodies and Carlisle had an extra man.

“I felt we were a bit naive, and that's probably down to myself. I tried to make the messaging as clear as I could, but people have got to take it on board and be more receptive.

“When we did get into decent areas, the final ball or end product wasn't there.

“When you can't put good balls into the box or get people across the front post, you're never going to win a game.

“It’s hugely disappointing. I think we're a lot better than what we've shown.

“I'll take responsibility for the result, but there's some things I can't do from the side of the pitch in terms of a moment of quality or the execution of a pass.

“I felt there were too many people that were a little bit off it, and when you've got eight or nine players below par you're not going to beat Carlisle.”

Brody Peart went off injured in the first half against Carlisle, and Davies admitted he has to manage his squad carefully ahead of Saturday’s trip to Altrincham.

“We've got five players out at the moment, which is tough,” said Davies.

“We need to box clever and make sure we look after the lads.

“We need to react against Altrincham and make sure that tactically we are up to the level, otherwise it will be a long afternoon.”
