Aldershot Town moved into the National League play-off places after scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner to beat Solihull Moors 2-1.

Ben Wodskou gave the Moors the lead in the first half, but substitute Brody Peart equalised for the Shots after the break before Solihull keeper Max Metcalfe’s stoppage-time own goal gave Aldershot all three points.

The hosts had a glorious opportunity to take the lead in the 23rd minute when they were awarded a penalty. Wodskou stepped up from the spot and struck his effort towards the bottom right-hand corner, but Shots keeper Jonathan Macaulay guessed correctly and saved to his left to keep the scores level.

The Moors did go ahead on 44 minutes. Hakeem Sandah was caught in possession, allowing Jamie Andrews to win possession and find Wodskou on the half-turn, who struck his low effort across Macaulay and into the back of the net.

Aldershot nearly equalised just before the break when Sandah found Tristan Abrahams, whose shot was well saved by Metcalfe.

The Shots went close again on 52 minutes when Basil Tuma drove forward and unleashed a powerful shot which was parried away by Metcalfe.

Aldershot got themselves back on level terms in the 72nd minute when substitute Peart made an instant impact and scored just 42 seconds after coming off the bench. Marcus Dinanga played the ball to Peart just inside his own half, and Peart drove forward to the edge of the box before firing a clinical left-footed effort past Metcalfe into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

The Shots scored a dramatic winner in the second minute of stoppage time when Jordan Alves’ inswinging left-footed corner from the right was dropped into his own net by Metcalfe, sparking wild scenes of celebration among Aldershot’s supporters in the away end.
