Aldershot Town manager Scott Davies praised his side's character and mentality after they came from behind to draw 1-1 against ten-man Yeovil Town.

Michee Efete bundled home Aldershot’s equaliser from close range on 66 minutes to earn the Shots a share of the spoils.

“I thought Yeovil were excellent for the first half an hour until the red card, and then it probably became more of an even affair,” said Davies.

“The most pleasing thing is we've shown good character and a good mentality to get back into the game and find a way.

“The most important thing is it becomes four really good points in three days.

“We’re six unbeaten, and I'm really proud of the team for not giving up. They didn't stop.

“There was a lot that I liked about it and there was a lot that I didn't like, but credit to the boys.

“We look at groups of games. If someone had said to me you can get four points out of Solihull away and Yeovil at home, I would have taken it.

“Yeovil are a really good team. They're well coached, they've got some top footballers and they'll cause a lot of teams problems this year. I think at some point they will give someone a good hiding.

“We were up against it for the first 20 to 25 minutes. I didn't feel we were brave enough. I thought we were a little bit timid and a little bit passive, and as soon as you do that against a good team you feel the pressure building.

“I want us to play with freedom. For 25 minutes we played like we had the weight of the world on our shoulders, but I’ve got to be pleased to come away with a point.

“We had to get in at half-time. The fact Yeovil got the red card meant there was a little bit of luck on our side, but we've played with nine men at Kidderminster. Luck was on our side to enable us to get a point.

“We were due a bit of luck. We've missed three penalties this season and we've played with nine men – we've had it tough. We've still remained unbeaten for six games, so I’m really proud of the lads.”

Yeovil took the lead in the 12th minute at the EBB Stadium when Slavi Spasov tapped in from close range, but the Glovers were reduced to ten men on 29 minutes when Loick Ayina received a straight red card for a high tackle on Basil Tuma.

Davies took decisive action shortly after Ayina’s dismissal, bringing on attacker Alfonso Tenconi for Jacob Borgnis in the 35th minute to ask more questions of Yeovil’s ten men.

“It was the right thing to do, and I'm not just saying that because we came back and got a point,” said Davies.

“We didn't need three defensive midfielders. It’s unfair on Jacob, of course, but I'm always going to do it for the sake of the team.

“I'd like to think that change helped us in terms of how we played, and being a bit more aggressive and getting into Yeovil’s half a little bit more.

“It's disappointing for Jacob, but for the sake of the team you have to sacrifice yourself. That's what he did.”
