Aldershot Town were held to a shock 2-2 draw by Combined Counties Premier Division South outfit Tadley Calleva in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Marcus Dinanga and Michael Stickland were on target for the Shots, but goals from Alfie Burton and Charlie Barlow earned the visitors a replay in front of a crowd of 2,886 at the EBB Stadium.
The Shots had their first effort at goal of the afternoon in the seventh minute, when Conor Lawless took a short corner to Hakeem Sandah, who cut inside and hit a right-footed shot goalwards which was deflected just over the bar for a corner.
Aldershot took the lead a minute later. Lawless’ corner was flicked goalwards by Stickland, whose header was well saved by Tadley keeper Donnie Burke. The ball dropped to Dinanga, who forced the rebound over the line from close range at the second attempt.
The Romans had their first effort at goal on 20 minutes, when Kieran Rodgers took aim with a right-footed effort from distance which sailed narrowly over the bar.
The Shots were back on the front foot a minute later when Michee Efete timed his run perfectly and passed inside to Lawless, who found Basil Tuma, whose shot was well blocked.
Aldershot went close again in the 26th minute when Tuma cut the ball back to Sandah, whose powerful first-time effort was heading in until it was headed away a few yards off the line.
Tuma found Sandah again three minutes later, and Sandah’s swerving effort was parried away unconvincingly by Burke.
The Shots had their next effort at goal on 39 minutes. Efete passed inside to Marcus Wyllie on the edge of the box, who worked a yard of space before firing his right-footed shot over the bar.
Aldershot went close again two minutes later when Tuma drove forward and showed good footwork before passing inside to Sandah, whose deflected effort was well held by Burke.
The Romans equalised in the 45th minute when a long throw-in from the right dropped to Burton, who hooked his right-footed effort past Shots keeper Nick Hayes.
The Shots had a golden chance to regain the lead in first-half stoppage time when Lawless’ corner picked out Stickland, whose powerful header went wide of the near post.
Aldershot had the first opportunity of the second half on 55 minutes, when Dinanga was in on goal and tried to round Burke, who did well to deny the Aldershot striker.
The Shots regained the lead in the 58th minute when Lawless' corner found Stickland, whose header at the near post had too much power for Burke and found the roof of the net.
Aldershot nearly scored a third four minutes later when Efete cut the ball back to Wyllie, whose clever flick was well blocked by Burke.
Shots boss Scott Davies made a double substitution on 68 minutes, with Brody Peart and Ollie Harfield replacing Tuma and Sandah. Davies made a third change in the 72nd minute, with Jack Matton replacing Efete.
Tadley got back on level terms for a second time when a scramble ended with Barlow forcing the ball home from close range past Hayes.
The Shots nearly regained the lead on 79 minutes, when Peart's left-footed effort from the edge of the box was well held by Burke.
Aldershot went even closer three minutes later when Lawless’ clever ball over the top found Jacob Borgnis, who found Wyllie, whose header crashed off the crossbar.
The Shots had a golden chance in stoppage time when Kiki Oshilaja cut the ball back to Dinanga, who fired his effort over the bar.
Davies then made his fourth substitution of the afternoon, with Tristan Abrahams replacing Wyllie.
Tadley then almost scored a winner when Scott Costello’s header across goal was superbly kept out by Hayes.
Neither side were able to find a late winner as the tie went to a replay. Aldershot will travel to Tadley Calleva for their FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay on Tuesday, October 20 (7.45pm kick-off).
