BADSHOT LEA reached the next round of the FA Vase with a record-breaking 10-0 win at Devizes Town on Saturday.

The victory set the record for the Baggies’ biggest ever win in the competition.

The win didn’t quite claim the record for the club’s biggest victory in all competitions though, as the Baggies beat Headley United 12-0 in an Aldershot Senior Cup tie in 2008.

Owen Dean opened the scoring at Devizes, with Dean Rule helping himself to a hat-trick.

Nick Medcraft, Tane Caubo (2), James Smith and Charlie Oakley (2) were also on target for the Baggies.

Badshot Lea co-manager Gavin Smith was delighted with his team’s performance.

“We were professional, and without sounding arrogant we deserved to win 10-0,” he said.

Attention now turns back to the league, with the Baggies at home to Balham in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Saturday (3pm).

Smith is expecting a tough game for his side. “I watched Balham last week and they are a good passing side with good players,” he said.

Farnham Town also reached the next round of the FA Vase with an emphatic 4-0 win at home to Warminster Town in the First Qualifying Round on Saturday.

All four goals were scored in the first half. Ashley Lloyd broke the deadlock, with Dan Stewart, Josh Ogunseye and Matt Glass also on target.

Farnham will travel to Horley Town in the league on Saturday (3pm).
