Farnham Town chairman Harry Hugo has expressed his delight after the club unveiled ambitious plans to expand the Memorial Ground.
The plans follow the club's remarkable rise through non-league football, winning three promotions in three seasons.
The announcement came after Waverley Borough Council's executive decision last Tuesday (October 6) to approve new lease arrangements giving the club additional land to the west of its stadium.
The land, previously part of the Memorial Hall site, will allow the club to increase capacity.
“There are loads of people that have pushed for this and helped me get to where we are now,” said Hugo.
“To the wider council who have approved this, thanks for listening and understanding we are more than a football club.
“We are a community asset that has grown astronomically in the past four years to something that families of Farnham can genuinely be proud of. I would like to think this is a recognition of that.
“What it allows us to do is continue to expand the experience at the football club to make it a better place for people to come and spend time in the centre of Farnham.
“I think it's a great thing for the town to have a sports team that is continuing to grow and be supported by the local community. That's rare.
“We need to get the planning and we need to do the work, which is going to cost a lot of money, but we need to do these things in order to continue to comply with the ground grading regulations in regards to the level of football we play at in the football pyramid.
“The idea is to have up to 350 seats on the Memorial Hall side and an additional 1,000 to 1,200 standing capacity on that side, as well as turnstiles, food, drinks and toilets.
“It secures the future of the football club, which is what I have always talked about wanting to do.
“It continues to allow Paul Johnson to push for new heights on the pitch – it is important we never put a barrier in the way of the football.
“We've got an elite manager at a football club that does things the right way. We only know one way, and that is to win.
“Never count Farnham out, because we are in a position where if we do go up we will be ready.”
