Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson is expecting a reaction from his side in their FA Cup second qualifying round replay at home to Cirencester Town.

The Town drew 2-2 at Cirencester despite leading twice thanks to goals from Sam Evans and Rakish Bingham.

“It's frustrating,” said Johnson. “You want to come here, make these games as comfortable as possible, and get through – but full credit to Cirencester.

“We controlled the game pretty well, but with no real goal threat going forward.

“It was fairly comfortable for large parts, but every time Cirencester went forward they looked a threat. We looked a bit all over the place at the back.

“Cirencester’s first goal was poor play all round. Rakish has come short to link up, which we've asked the strikers not to do, the ball has gone out for a throw, and their player has gone down the line and crossed it with ease. The desire at the back post was not there to attack the ball, and they've scored.

“I thought we came out after half-time and controlled it pretty well. Cirencester weren’t a real threat and we managed to find the goal to go back in front and should have seen it out.”

The Town almost went 3-1 up when Owen Dean’s header was superbly saved by Cirencester keeper Connor Johns, but Johnson felt his side should have created more when they were 2-1 up.

“I think that was the only chance (Owen Dean's header) it looked like we really created,” said Johnson.

“Cirencester have then gone down the other end, scored their goal and hit the post. They could have nicked it.

“We’ve got to get the job done on Tuesday. On that performance I wouldn't be confident, but we know what we've got to do. We've got to turn up and put this one to bed.”
