Farnham Town picked up their first win of the season with an impressive 1-0 victory at Slough Town in the National League South.
Trae Cook-Appiah’s 24th-minute goal was enough to give the visitors all three points at Arbour Park.
Farnham were quick out of the blocks and nearly took the lead in the second minute when Cook-Appiah’s long throw-in was nodded goalwards by Jack Dean, whose header was saved by Slough keeper Josh McNamara.
The visitors went close again on eight minutes when Bobby-Joe Taylor drove forward and pulled his shot wide of the right-hand post.
The Town had another opportunity in the 13th minute when Taylor stood the ball up for Cook-Appiah, who nodded it down to Dean, whose volley was deflected behind for a corner.
Farnham got the breakthrough their pressure deserved on 24 minutes when Cook-Appiah raced away through on goal before drilling his right-footed effort into the far corner.
Cook-Appiah nearly scored his second of the evening in first-half stoppage time when he sprinted away before hitting a left-footed effort goalwards which was parried away by McNamara.
The Town had a big chance to double their advantage in the opening minute of the second half when Taylor got in down the right and cut the ball back to Billy Clifford, who blasted over from 15 yards.
Clifford tried his luck from distance in the 51st minute and forced McNamara to make a fine diving save.
Farnham went close again on 63 minutes when Evans played in Taylor, whose low driven effort was tipped just wide by McNamara.
Taylor played a neat one-two with Rakish Bingham from the resulting corner before firing his effort over the bar from close range.
The Town had another chance to go 2-0 up on 88 minutes when Taylor sent Owen Dean through on goal, but McNamara smothered his effort.
