Farnham Town have signed midfielder Jack Spong on a one-year contract from last season’s National League South champions Worthing.

The 24-year-old midfielder came through the academy set up at Brighton & Hove Albion, and joined League Two side Crawley Town on loan in January 2023.

Spong joined Scottish Championship outfit Queen’s Park in the summer of 2023 after leaving Brighton, before joining Worthing in February 2024.

He left Worthing this summer and joins Farnham after playing in the Town’s 1-0 friendly win against Eastleigh.

“We’re really happy to be adding a player of Jack’s quality and experience to our group,” said Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson.

“Over the past two seasons especially, Jack established himself as one of the key contributors in an excellent Worthing side that finally earned their place in the National League – and deservedly so.

“He has excellent pedigree, and at 24, he’s got a lot more to give. As a player that’s been there and done it at this level over a number of years, he’s going to be a huge asset to our dressing room.”

Farnham Town chairman Harry Hugo added: “I’m delighted to be welcoming Jack to Farnham Town ahead of our debut season at National League South level.

“Jack was someone we were monitoring for a while but I think I speak for a lot of people who know this level and non-league locally that when it was announced Jack was moving on from Worthing this summer, we expected him to go higher.

“Over the past two seasons, Jack cemented himself as one of the best midfielders in the National League South and has shown a great ability to not only score goals but create them as well for the best team in the division.

“That sort of calibre and experience is exactly what we want to add to our group at Farnham, and I’m really looking forward to watching Jack with us this season.”
