Farnham Town produced a superb second-half fightback to come from behind and earn a 2-2 draw against Truro City in the National League South.
First-half goals from Tyler Harvey and Max Kinsey gave the Tinners a 2-0 lead at the interval, but second-half goals from Rakish Bingham and Trae Cook-Appiah earned Farnham a share of the spoils at The Memorial Ground.
The visitors had the first attempt at goal of the evening in the sixth minute, when Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain cut inside from the left and hit a powerful right-footed shot goalwards from just outside the box which was well saved by Farnham keeper Michael Eacott.
Truro then went ahead on eight minutes when Jack Stretton delivered a low ball into the box from the right which Harvey cleverly flicked past Eacott from close range.
Farnham responded well to falling behind and produced a nice move in the 11th minute. Billy Clifford and Mat Mackenzie combined neatly down the right before Mackenzie squared the ball to Bingham, who spun sharply but his shot was blocked.
The Town called Truro keeper Aidan Stone into action a minute later when Josh Tobin passed inside to Jack Spong, who fired a powerful shot goalwards from distance which Stone parried away.
Farnham had another attempt at goal on the half-hour mark, when Clifford found Mackenzie on the edge of the box, whose curling left-footed shot was well held by Stone.
The visitors nearly doubled their advantage two minutes later when Harvey fired his shot wide of the left-hand post.
Farnham went close on 33 minutes when Sam Evans did well down the left and slipped a pass inside to Brandon Mason, who sliced his effort into the side netting at the near post.
The Tinners went 2-0 up in the 37th minute when Connor Riley-Lowe's wicked corner from the right found Kinsey, who rose highest and nodded his header past Eacott into the top left-hand corner of the net.
Farnham manager Paul Johnson made a double substitution on 54 minutes, with Bobby-Joe Taylor and Cook-Appiah replacing Tobin and Evans.
The Town pulled a goal back in the 59th minute when Taylor drove forward down the right and crossed to Bingham, who swept his first-time finish past Stone.
Farnham got back on level terms on 67 minutes after a superb move. Taylor fizzed an excellent low pass through to Mason down the left, who flashed an inviting ball across the face of goal for Cook-Appiah to tap home past Stone from close range.
The Town continued to be on the front foot and nearly went ahead two minutes later, when Cook-Appiah’s shot was well blocked.
Farnham went close again in the 74th minute when Clifford wriggled through to find some space on the edge of the box and fired a low shot goalwards which was well held by Stone.
Johnson had to make an enforced change in the 79th minute, when Sam Hutchinson limped off and was replaced by Conrad Hunt, who made his Farnham debut after joining the Town on a 28-day loan from Championship side Watford earlier in the day.
Farnham’s manager had to make another enforced change on 85 minutes, with Miles Obodo replacing the injured Spong.
The Town then went desperately close to taking the lead when Cook-Appiah slipped a pass through to Taylor, whose low shot across goal forced an excellent save from Stone.
Farnham had another chance in the 86th minute when Obodo fired his shot over the bar.
Neither side was able to find a late winner, but the Town will have been the happier of the two sides after coming back from 2-0 down.
The point extended Farnham’s unbeaten run to six games in the National League South.
Next up for Farnham is a home game against Salisbury in the National League South on Saturday, October 10 (3pm kick-off).
