Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson praised his side after they won 3-2 at home to Weston-super-Mare in the National League South.

First-half goals from Owen Dean and Darryl Sanders (2) fired the Town to an excellent victory in front of a crowd of 1,316 at The Memorial Ground.

“We were excellent in the first half – I don't think Weston-super-Mare could cope with what were doing,” said Johnson.

“We should have really gone in at half-time with a couple more than we had.

“I think that would have killed the second half totally, but we made hard work of it in the second half.”

Johnson was delighted with the football his side played in the first half as they raced into a 3-1 lead at the break.

“It was a joy to watch in the first half,” said Johnson.

“I think it was maybe some of the best football we've played this season.

“I think if Rakish Bingham's chance right on half-time goes in to make it 4-1 it could have been five or six.

“Weston-super-Mare got in at half-time, regrouped and changed things, and it worked for them.

“It's a great three points – they're a good side. They caught us on a good day in the first half and it was too much for them to climb back from.”

A negative for Farnham was the sight of right-back Aaron Williams Fernandez going off injured, and Johnson admitted it might be a bad injury.

“I don't think it's a great one,” said Johnson. “He felt a pop in his hamstring and he didn't want to push it.

“We'll have to see where he's at. It’s unfortunate as he's had a good start with us.

“The right-back slot is a really big issue for us. We keep filling it and then having to refill it again a few weeks later. It looks like we're going to have to refill it again.”

Farnham have now picked up 13 points from their past five league games, and Johnson is delighted with his side’s league form.

“It was important to bounce back after the disappointment of the FA Cup,” said Johnson.

“I thought we bounced back in a really good style, especially in the first half.

“The league form is really good. We've had a great start and found our feet in the division. We'll look to kick on.”
