Farnham Town extended their unbeaten run to five games in the National League South with an impressive 3-2 win at home to Weston-super-Mare.

First-half goals from Owen Dean and Darryl Sanders (2) fired the Town to an excellent victory in front of a crowd of 1,316 at The Memorial Ground.

The Town were quick out of the traps and took the lead in the sixth minute. Sam Avery's attempted clearance from Louie Holzman’s ball over the top was blocked by Dean, who ran through unchallenged and clipped the ball over visiting keeper Max Harris before tapping the ball home into an empty net.

The Seagulls got back on level terms on 16 minutes. Luke Skinner's ball forward was misjudged by Holzman, allowing Louie Derrick to run through on goal. Derrick’s initial effort was superbly saved by Town keeper Michael Eacott, but Derrick fired home the rebound to make it 1-1.

Farnham regained the lead two minutes later after a free-flowing move. Brandon Mason passed inside to Dean, who flicked the ball around the corner for Sanders to run through on goal. Harris got a hand to Sanders’ shot, but his effort had enough power on it to roll over the line.

The Town almost scored a third in the 24th minute when Sam Hutchinson’s quick throw found Dean, whose cutback was helped on by Rakish Bingham to Sanders, whose shot was blocked by Jason Pope.

The visitors went close on the half-hour mark when Skinner’s looping ball in from the left was met by Sean Long six yards out, whose header landed on top of the net.

Farnham went 3-1 up on 35 minutes after another excellent move saw Sanders play a one-two with Bingham before chopping onto his right foot and curling his finish into the top right-hand corner of the net.

The Town nearly scored a fourth before the break when Bingham read Derrick’s back pass, but his left-footed effort went just wide of the left-hand post.

Farnham manager Paul Johnson made one substitution at half-time, with Ryan Kinnane replacing Holzman.

Johnson made his second substitution of the afternoon on 52 minutes, with Erion Zabeli replacing Aaron Williams Fernandez, who had taken a knock.

The Seagulls nearly pulled a goal back in the 57th minute when Skinner drove forward and hit a powerful effort goalwards which Eacott did well to tip over the bar.

Johnson made his third change of the afternoon in the 63rd minute, with Mat Mackenzie replacing Josh Tobin.

Mackenzie nearly made an immediate impact two minutes later when he let fly from outside the box with a right-footed effort which went just wide of the left-hand post.

Johnson made his fourth substitution on 66 minutes, with Sam Evans replacing Dean.

Farnham almost went 4-1 up in the 76th minute when Billy Clifford drove into the box and flashed his right-footed effort across goal just wide of the far post.

The visitors had an excellent chance to pull a goal back three minutes later, but Louis Britton's header from six yards out went over the bar.

Johnson made his fifth and final substitution of the afternoon on 82 minutes, with Trae Cook-Appiah replacing Clifford.

Sanders nearly completed his hat-trick four minutes later, but his curling effort from the edge of the box went just over the bar.

The Seagulls set up a tense finale when Jacob Jagger Cane headed home at the back post on 89 minutes to make it 3-2.

The Town saw out the closing stages professionally to make it four wins and a draw from their past five league games and continue their encouraging start to life in the National League South.
