FA Trophy winners AFC Fylde will be Aldershot Town’s first opponents of the new season.

The Lancastrians, who were beaten 3-0 by Salford City in the National League play-off final just a week before beating Leyton Orient at Wembley to secure the FA Trophy, visit the EBB Stadium on August 3.

Next season’s National League fixtures were unveiled yesterday afternoon and the Shots face the prospect of eight games in August under new manager Danny Searle.

The Shots travel to face big rivals Woking in the first midweek game of the season on August 6 before travelling to face Solihull Moors the following Saturday.

Bromley then head to Hampshire on Tuesday, August 13, before the shots welcome FC Halifax to the EBB on August 17.

Newly-promoted Torquay United (August 24), Sutton United (August 26) and Ebbsfleet (August 31) round off a hectic start to the new campaign.

The home game with Woking is on March 21 while the game against Torquay has been selected as a live game by BT Sport, with a 5.20pm kick-off.

“It’s an interesting start,” said Searle.

“When you look at how strong the league is I don’t think there was ever going to be an easy or hard start to the season, it’s just a case of it’s a very competitive league and, within reason, we’ll take it as it comes. We’ve got to play them all twice anyway.

“A lot of people have asked me who I’d like first game and to be honest we just want to play football matches and whoever it is we will be ready for them.”

Searle’s squad is still a work in progress with eight new players having already joined the club while three more faces could be unveiled by the end of the week.

Former Gateshead full back Robbie Tinkler and 21-year-old Scottish striker Connor Shields are the latest players to join Searle’s exciting revolution.

“There are a few more additions we want to make to the squad before pre-season but we’ve got a strong group of lads in already. We returned to pre-season last week and I feel that they have hit the ground running. They all seem to have gelled well together, the environment’s good, the atmosphere is good and the work ethic has been fantastic, so we’ll be ready to go.”

Now into their second week of pre-season training, Searle will get a first-hand look at this new squad when they open officially Combined Counties League side Badshot Lea’s new Westfield Lane ground in Wrecclesham on Saturday.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Searle. “It’s great to be able to do some work with a local club, especially with the opening of their new stadium. It will be a great day for everyone involved.”

The game kicks off at 3pm.
