ALDERSHOT & Farnham Hockey Club’s junior section is going from strength to strength.
Having brought in specialist goalkeeper coach Ally Black this year and appointed Mark Robinson as head coach of the juniors, A&F have now had a welcome windfall – a donation of £2,500 from Mathew Prestwich of R&G Herbs to be used for new goalkeeping kit.
A former Great Britain U21 keeper, Mathew was impressed with the training he saw and stressed the importance of excellent protective equipment to build confidence while maintaining mobility.
The youngsters are delighted with the new kit, as are the club and their parents. Aldershot & Farnham, based at Heath End School, now has a large group of junior goalkeepers, aged from 9 to 17, with a good mix of girls and boys.
Club chairman Nigel Oates, with young son Jack, also enjoyed watching the session and, on behalf of A&F, thanked Mathew Prestwich for his generous donation and support for the club.
