Farnham College and Farnham Town Football Club are launching a pioneering Football Education Programme designed for students aged between 16 and 18.
This initiative will offer a blend of academic study and professional football training, providing an opportunity for young people passionate about football to pursue their educational and athletic goals simultaneously.
The programme allows students to enrol in full-time academic courses - such as A-levels, T-levels, vocational diplomas or GCSEs - while participating in a comprehensive football development schedule.
This will include training sessions two or three times a week, weekly fitness sessions in an on-site gym, and competitive matches in college football leagues and the Isthmian League under-18 division.
Students will also have opportunities to attend football tournaments and trips both in the UK and abroad.
Neil Shoulder, the group director of Farnham College, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Farnham Town Football Club to offer this exciting Football Education Programme.
“This initiative provides a unique opportunity for students to combine full-time study with professional-level football training, ensuring they acquire the skills and qualifications to succeed both on and off the pitch.”
Paul Tanner, a director of Farnham Town Football Club, added: “We believe this venture will strengthen community ties and enhance educational offerings in the local area. If there is an appetite for such a programme, we are proud to play a significant part in its success.”
Farnham College is hosting a free taster event for the programme on July 2 from 4pm to 6pm. Participants should bring their football kit, football boots and water.
Students interested in joining the Football Education Programme should first apply for a full-time academic course at Farnham College. After submitting the application, they can register their interest in the football programme. For more information, and to apply, visit https://bit.ly/FCSport
