TWENTY-EIGHT pairs played in Farnham Golf Club’s annual adult/junior foursomes for the Hugh Hase Cup.

The combination of Scarlett Porter and Malcolm Hodgson scored a fantastic 53 points to claim the Hase Cup for the second time in three years.

Archie Smith, partnered by his father Dave, were a distant second on 42 points, with defending champions Hannah Link and dad Simon third on 41.

The Hugh Hase Trophy was presented to Scarlett and Malcolm by club captain Mike Tiddy after the post-competition meal.

Junior club captain Eddy Williams and father Gareth won the scratch competition, while Will and Kris Mannering won the competition for a pair with an adult guest.

The Junior Club Championship was earlier played on a wet and windy afternoon. Lottie Woad is the club’s new Junior Champion after winning the scratch event on countback from Eddy Williams. Lottie is the first girl to win Farnham’s Junior Championship.

Will Wharton was third and also secured victory in the handicap medal competition.

The weather resulted in a late finish, so the prizes were also presented by Mike Tiddy at the adult/junior foursomes. The trophies will be awarded at the junior presentation evening and AGM next month.

The accompanying stableford competition for those with club handicaps was won by Will Mannering on countback from Henry Wigg, with Luca Mosca one point behind in third.

As part of Junior Club Championship day, Farnham club professional Luke Bone ran a series of skills challenges on the short game area. George Howell (bunker), Lewis Wilson (putting) and Austin Aksinavicius (chipping) were the winners of the various challenges.

• In-form James Hamilton (Div 1) and Neil Hoar (Div 2) were the winners at Farnham Golf Club’s September Medal.

• The Spreckley Cup is a yellow-tee stableford for Farnham’s over-55s and is always hotly contested by the senior seven-day members. This year’s competition was won by Chuck Pengilley with 42 points.

• Nathan Tull, a serial winner this year, defeated Steve Hollands in the final of the club’s Scratch Knockout competition.
