SOUTHEND UTD 1
ALDERSHOT TN 2
ALDERSHOT'S impressive resurgence began and ended in thrilling style on Tuesday in a fixture which seems to guarantee drama.
Restoring pride and creativity to their performance, the Shots were ahead in just 21 seconds, but in a breathless final 10 minutes they nearly threw away a point, only to finally, amazingly, snatch all three for the first time in eight games.
After seven straight defeats for Aldershot, Danny Hylton's brilliant solo run and finish, weaving through the entire Southend defence virtually straight from the kick-off, provided the perfect tonic to flagging morale.
It was Hylton's first goal of the season and proved the catalyst for a fine team display.
