LORD Wandsworth College pupil Emily Harris was the outstanding player for Great Britain at the Women’s U18 World Ice Hockey Div I Group B Championships in Poland.

Emily, who turns 16 later this month, was selected to play for Great Britain in 2017 and the team competed against Denmark, China, Poland, Australia and France in Katowice.

She helped Britain to a 5-1 victory against Australia and although GB went on to lose to China, she was awarded player of the match.

The final game was against Poland whose heckling supporters made it a tough challenge for the GB team.

However, by the end of the tournament, the Great Britain players had shown themselves to be fighters. Emily was top goal-scorer and overall top points scorer for the tournament – quite an achievement.

Emily Harris plays ice hockey for the Bracknell Queen Bees and is keeping up her skills with Reading Hockey Club.

Adam Williams, headmaster at Lord Wandsworth, said: “We are hugely proud of Emily, not only for representing the school so brilliantly, but also her country at this high level.”
