THIRTY Haslemere Border athletes took part in the Alice Holt park run in December.

Not only was it a qualifying race on the club’s Grand Prix list of events and therefore the opportunity to obtain vital points in the annual inter-club competition – it was a chance to support and celebrate with club member Lorraine Herring on her 100th park run.

Haslemere Border runners performed well in the event, with three recording personal bests. Jon Fairs finished second overall and Helen Barran was third lady home and tenth overall.

Two club members missing from the Alice Holt park run were Clair Green and Andy Wareham, who had taken to the Scottish Highlands for the weekend and on a bitterly cold day braved the elements of the Montrose park run. Andy finished in 12th place overall and Clair finished 23rd overall and was fifth lady home.

Haslemere Borders will be running their popular Get Up And Run course in January for anyone who wants to start running but has never had the confidence or motivation to do it, or those coming back from time out or injury. The course will be held over ten weeks and starts with warm-ups and jogging/walking sessions before gradually building up to running a full 5k and taking part in a park run.
