A NETBALL team leader has joined forces with her daughter to bring netball into the homes of their team-mates.

Helen Gardener and daughter Poppy, aged ten – both of Liphook Netball Club – have been running Facebook live ‘Mum and Me’ sessions every Sunday, teaching viewers netball skills and pairwork.

The club have around 70 members, divided into under-nine, under-11, under-12 and under-14.

Helen said: “We didn’t want the girls to lose out on the time spent with their friends.

“We decided to do the live videos at home. Some people don’t like to be watched when working out from home, so the live sessions mean people can take part without the worry.”

The sessions run on a Sunday morning – the time which the team would usually meet at Bohunt School – with Helen aiming to make them as straight-forward as possible, needing only a small space and a netball.

“Some people have been using it not only on Sunday but for their PE lessons during the week,” Helen said.

And despite the team having to halt their season, they received a £250 grant from Taylor Wimpey, which was used to buy new dresses, tops and bibs for tournaments.

Helen said: “The new kit looks amazing and the team are excited to get out on the court and show off their skills.”
