Ollie Harfield has signed a new contract with Aldershot Town, writes Samuel Carter.
Harfield made his 100th Aldershot Town appearance at the beginning of last season and was the 2023-24 Arthur English Supporters’ Player of the Season having not missed a minute of action during that campaign.
Though still recovering from a serious knee injury sustained after playing just six National League matches at the start of last season, the vice-captain remained a huge part of the squad behind the scenes and was at Wembley to help lift the Isuzu FA Trophy.
Ollie said: “I’m delighted to extend my time here, it was only ever going to be my club, Aldershot.
“I’m busy fighting to get fit every day and however long it will take, I’ll be back in red and blue.”
Shots boss Tommy Widdrington added: “Ollie was a catalyst for our 2023-24 season, leading by example, and managing to play every minute of every game was an achievement I doubt will be matched.
“He played his part in the 7-4 win at Swindon, both games against Stockport and of course our memorable day at The Hawthorns. He’s shown unbelievable courage and tenacity so far in his bid to return to full fitness but the support he’s shown to the squad while not being able to play really does epitomise him as a person.
“I, more than anyone, hope to see Ollie back on the pitch for us this season and we will all support his efforts to do just that.”
The Southampton-born left-back and left midfielder started his career in 2017 at AFC Bournemouth, who loaned him to Poole Town and Boreham Wood before giving him a free transfer to Dagenham & Redbridge in the summer of 2018. After a year there he spent three seasons at Weymouth before joining the Shots prior to 2022-23.
