FARNHAM Rugby Club junior Will Trenholm has been selected for the England under-18 development camp.

From this 45-strong squad, England will select players for a series of friendly internationals ahead of hosting a Six Nations competition from April 11-21.

Will, a student at Cranleigh School, has just finished a successful season playing for Harlequins under-18s which culminated in a 31-15 win over Sale Sharks on Sunday.

Had Will not played for Quins, he would have been part of the Farnham Academy who are enjoying a successful run in the Harlequins Cup.

On Sunday they defeated Old Emmanuel 45-0 to advance to the quarter-finals of that competition.

“There’s no denying we miss Will playing for the club,” said Farnham Academy coach Barry Warner, “but it gives us a great sense of pride to see someone who fell in love with the game at Farnham go on to represent their country.

“It is too early to say ‘in the footsteps of Jonny Wilkinson and Ryan Wilson’, but who knows. All at Farnham are confident he will get plenty of game time and we wish him the best of luck.”
