Rushmoor Artistic Swimming Club are holding a taster event in September – to try to get more people interested in their sport.

Matt Snelling says the club recently lost their home pool in Farnborough.

“That, Covid and the reduced availability of pool time has meant the club have lost a number of members,” said Matt.

“We are desperately looking to attract new members, both girls and boys, over the age of six.

“We are hosting a trial session at Places Leisure in Camberley on September 11 from 6pm to 7pm for anyone interested in trying artistic swimming.

“One of our members, Ranjuo Tomblin, is quite a phenomenon as he is the first male in the GB squad.

“He trains with Rushmoor and his success helps us promote the fact that boys can do artistic swimming too – it’s not just for girls!”

Rushmoor’s 13-18 swimmers had great success at the National Combo Cup competition at the London Aquatics Centre, where they came third.

“The team have been training together since September 2021 and were ecstatic to win the bronze medal after all their hard work,” said Matt.

The team consisted of Rosie, Lexie, Blu, Ella, Becca, Danni, Flo, Georgia and Fay and were coached by Rushmoor’s head coach Emma Adams.

Ranjuo won silver in the first male solo event at the 2022 LEN European Junior Championships in Alicante, Spain.

Ranjou is part of the GB junior squad and has been part of the Swim England Artistic Swimming Pathway since 2020.

The silver medal added to the bronze he also won in the mixed free duet alongside partner Beatrice Crass.

“The club are always looking for new members,” said Matt.

“If you love dancing, gymnastics and being in the water, artistic swimming could be the sport for you!

“If you are interested in trying artistic swimming, then please email [email protected] or call our coach Emma on 07818 666823.”
