ALDERSHOT TOWN 0, ROCHDALE 0

HAVING put out a League Two side in the previous round, Aldershot came agonisingly close to dumping League One Rochdale out of the FA Cup.

The Dale survived having the kitchen sink thrown at them in the last five minutes and manager Keith Hill expressed his relief at taking the tie back to Spotland.

"I would have accepted a defeat, to be honest," he said. "We had to change the side twice this morning, so it's been a real challenge for us."

A virus had decimated Rochdale's squad, preventing Hill from naming a full bench.

Aldershot, in contrast, fielded probably their strongest side of the season and Andy Scott took great pride in a display that matched the earlier efforts against Portsmouth.
