TWENTY members plus two guests from the Forest of Bere Archery Club took part in Whitehill Archers’ annual fun Easter shoot.

The team event involved shooting at home-made targets with an Easter theme.

Designed to test each archer’s skill and to create a fun event for archers of all abilities, the scoring system was designed so the highest-scoring opportunities were not at the centre of each target as they would be in a traditional competition.

Despite the emphasis being on fun, there was a lot of rivalry between teams with eyes on the Easter egg prizes.

At the end, Steve Cloake, the shoot organiser, invited volunteers from each team to take part in the archery Grand National competition and this was then followed by his traditional ‘plus or minus’ target where teams could either boost or reduce their teams scores or those of other teams.

This year’s winners were the Cream Eggs, followed by Mini Eggs, Rabbits, Bunnies, Egg Heads and, last but not least, the Chickens.

The event was followed by a barbecue.

The club will hold their Wand shoot in September and Hallowe’en fun shoot and UK Record Status Christmas- themed St Nicholas competition in November.
