A WOMAN in her 90s has been left devastated after sentimental jewellery, including her gold engagement ring, was stolen during a break-in at her house in Farnham this week.
The burglary happened sometime between 11am and 12.20pm on Tuesday, May 23, at a property in Adams Park Road, near Farnham Park.
Someone entered the house and after a thorough search, made off with cash and several items of jewellery including broaches, a silver neck chain with an opal pendent, a gold ring with ruby clusters, a gold ring with four small amethyst stones and a gold engagement ring with small clear stones given to the victim by her late husband during the Second World War.
Pc Mike Patey said: “Devastated is really the only word to describe how the victim is feeling right now at the loss of these hugely sentimental items. The lady desperately wants her engagement ring back and we would urge whoever took it to search their conscience, do the right thing and return it.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area on Tuesday and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously or has information about this incident. Equally, if you are in the jewellery trade and think you might have been offered these items for sale recently please contact Surrey Police so we can progress our investigation.”
