‘VORX of Hart. - what does it mean? The Farnham Public Art Trust doesn’t know. The person who does is NADFAS lecturer Ann Clements, who will reveal all in a lecture on ‘The Watercolours of Edward Lear’ on Thursday, April 21.
Edward Lear is probably best known for his nonsense verses. However he was also a prolific artist in watercolour and oil and an indefatigable traveller.
Despite serious health problems he travelled further and more intensively over a 50-year period than any other of his contemporaries, recording all he saw.
The lecture, exploring his remarkable work and delightful character, will be given at 8pm on Wednesday, April 21, at the St Joan’s Centre, Tilford Road, Farnham.
Entrance (payable at the door) is £6 per person, students £2, and doors open at 7.30pm for welcoming drinks. For more information ring 01252 702449 or visit www.farnhampublicarttrust.co.uk.
