CHANGE of Scene, which provides alternative provision for children and young people who struggle to cope in mainstream education, has benefited from a kind gesture from The Bourne Show committee ahead of the July 16 event.

Sixteen youngsters attend Change of Scene’s farm each week, their placements are part paid for by their schools with the remainder being funded by grants and donations.

Occasionally, the school funding for a child runs out and, although once a youngster has started at Change of Scene they are never turned away, the funds still need to be found to cover costs.

In December The Bourne Show committee contacted Change of Scene wishing to make a donation from funds raised by their 2015 event. Change of Scene asked whether the money could support one of the children for a term.

The funding from The Bourne Show committee enabled that child to continue attending Change of Scene for the whole term. This allowed him to come to terms with the challenges he faces and will enable him ultimately return to school on a full-time curriculum.

His parents were thrilled that he could continue for that much-needed term and were most grateful for the support received from The Bourne Show committee.

Change of Scene is delighted that The Bourne Show committee chose to support their work by funding this young person, and the charity has been most happy to accept the committee’s invitation to have an information tent at the Bourne Show this year, so enabling everyone to find out more about this very locally based charity.

This year’s Bourne Show, which has taken place on the Bourne Green, Lower Bourne for nearly 70 years, will take place on Saturday, July 16. and again promises a great afternoon out for all the family, raising money for local charities and good causes.
