THE long-established Farnham & District Sports Association for the Disabled has changed its name to Farnham Swimability and in other news two members were presented with awards at the Farnham Sports Council Presentation of Awards held at Farnham Rugby Club.

Katie Ress, who is five, was rewarded for showing bravery in swimming alone and Ted Bonner was honoured for his dedication to the group – having been involved in assisting the group for more than 30 years.

Chairman Alan Taylor said: “The name change was to reflect our core activity of providing safe and supervised swimming at Farnham Leisure Centre on Saturday mornings with easy access into the pool.

“A range of disabled members enjoy the freedom of exercising in water and a number of social events are organised by the group throughout the year.

“Farnham Swimability will retain its close link with Frensham Pond Sailability having been a key partner in its original formation.”
