INTERNAL communications agency theblueballroom has raised more than £260 for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice through a bake sale.
The agency, which is based in Farnham, kick-started its fundraising with the bake sale, which was held at the company’s offices in Endeavour Place, last month.
Cakes were made by staff members and raffle prizes were also donated by theblueballroom staff, as well as by local businesses Butter and Cream Cakes in Milford and The Wheatsheaf pub in Farnham.
Phyllis Tuckwell, whose care extends across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire, supports patients and families living with a terminal illness, such as cancer.
As well as medical and clinical care, it also offer therapies, counselling, emotional and spiritual guidance, advice on benefits and entitlements, practical help and bereavement support.
Kate Shanks, managing director of theblueballroom, said: “We’re thrilled to have raised such a great amount for Phyllis Tuckwell. I’ve seen first-hand what a difference fundraising can make to them. They offer such wonderful care and we’re so proud to be able to support them.”
Phyllis Tuckwell relies on support from businesses and the community to be able to continue providing the end-of-life care which it gives, free of charge, to those who have been given the worst possible news.
“theblueballroom produced a fantastic range of delicious home-made cakes to sell and it was wonderful to see how quickly a queue built up, as lots of local businesses came out to support the sale,” said Vanessa Beech, corporate partnerships fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell.
“Events such as this really do make a big difference in helping us meet our fundraising target.”
So far this year, theblueballroom has raised almost £1,000 through their bake sale, bag-it-and-give and sweepstakes, and hopes to continue raising money for the charity throughout the rest of the year.
