TIME is fast running out for residents to nominate roads across Farnham - including the A325 in Wrecclesham - for up to £100 million each of funding as part of the government’s new ‘Major Roads Network’ (MRN).

The MRN consultation proposes that 5,000 miles of “key” ‘A’ roads are brought into scope for new funding from the National Roads Fund for upgrades and improvements. The deadline for responses is Sunday, March 18.

It is hoped the funding could be spent on key improvements to Farnham’s congested highway network - including a possible Wrecclesham bypass, as campaigned for by villagers, councillors and MP Jeremy Hunt.

A spokesman for Wrecclesham Village Voice said: “If you would like to ensure the A325 remains part of the Major Road Network (MRN), increasing chances of funding for a bypass, then please take two minutes to respond to the current MRN consultation.

“To make things quicker and easier we have prepared a couple of responses. To find out more about the MRN consultation, and to send a pre-prepared response please visit our website: www.wreccleshamvv.co.uk.”
