FARNHAM is in need of volunteer litter-pickers to take part in this year’s Big Pick Week in March and to join in Bloomin’ Litter activities during the year.
The Big Pick takes place over the week of March 21 to 28, culminating in a town centre clear up on Saturday, March 28, for the Great British Spring Clean.
Farnham Town Council invites volunteers to get involved and play their part in filling sacks with litter. When the spring clean finishes on March 28, volunteers can enjoy a hard-earnt cup of tea and a piece of cake.
Regular volunteers are also needed over the spring and summer months to keep the town and surrounding villages litter-free.
“Litter picking is a quick and easy way to have a big impact on the attractiveness of your neighbourhood, high street or favourite park,” said Councillor Sally Dickson, lead member for community enhancement at Farnham Town Council.
"The Big Pick takes place over the week of March 21 to 28. We need just an hour or two of your time and you can join in as an individual, family, group of friends, or colleagues from a local business."
Cllr Dickson added: “For our Bloomin’ Litter initiatives, we also need regular volunteers over the spring and summer months to keep our town and villages litter-free.
"If you enjoy the Big Pick and want to do more or feel you can take part in litter picking on a regular basis, please get in touch.
"It’s a very worthwhile contribution to your local community, particularly for young people or others looking for a volunteering opportunity.”
Signing up is easy: simply email Farnham Town Council at [email protected] giving your contact details, the number of people likely to join you and the area you would like to cover.
Remember to also mention whether you are interested in Big Pick Week, a regular litter pick for Bloomin’ Litter or both.
Farnham Town Council provides all the litter picking and safety equipment needed and can even help dispose of what is collected.
