THE University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham is to expand its campus this summer to accommodate its burgeoning acting and performance course.
Launched in 2015 in partnership with the Farnham Maltings, and focusing on acting for the screen as much as for live performance, the course has seen a 125 per cent increase in applicants for the next academic year.
As a result, a new two-storey building, which will sit at the rear of the campus, will be constructed to create additional space.
It will be used as office space for the University’s staff, with the space freed in the main building then reassigned to UCA’s budding performers and other creative students.
The building work is planned to be completed before the new intake is welcomed in September.
UCA vice-chancellor Professor Simon Ofield-Kerr said: “We’re pleased that our acting and performance course has proven so popular, having enrolled its first cohort at the beginning of this academic year.
“It’s proven a valuable addition to the UCA community and we’re seeing some fantastic collaborations between actors, filmmakers, animators and aspiring writers.
“The new building will provide valuable new office space for our staff, and help us maintain the high quality teaching for which we have an international reputation.”
